VetaSource Dedicating a Specialized Team to Ensure the Packages are Safe and Secure
Prior to shipment to the customer, components or finished items are packaged. It entails, for example, placing the items within protective packaging, repacking out of production packaging into designated transport containers, preparing sets for shipment, including labeling, and dealing with the Customer’s IT system.
the transportation of huge amounts of things that are generally not packaged but are immediately placed into a vessel As a result, these things are delivered without any protective packaging or packing, and the object delivering them, generally the hold of a ship, serves as the container.
Step 1: Select a ‘product box’
Choosing the correct box is one of the most critical things you can do to ensure that your items are safe and secure throughout transportation.
There are three things to think about:
– Box size
– Box strength
– whether a repurposed old box will be strong enough.
Box size
Box size is important! Finding the correct sized packaging goods is critical since it will not only protect product but will also save money on delivery.
A box that is too small can put undue strain on the cardboard. If the object inside is compressed and the sides are pushing on the box material, the box is more likely to split in transport.
We Provide boxes that allow to wrap the necessary 7cm of inside cushioning (bubble wrap) all the way around merchandise within the box. We aim for a tight, not forced, fit, and item’s sides should not contact the box walls.
More padding will be required if the box is too large. If there is too much room surrounding item, it is conceivable that all of the movement will harm the product while in transportation. In addition, a big box will cost extra to ship. Even though Sendle works hard to keep our charges as cheap as possible, the larger the box, the more likely you are to encounter an unwanted “weight break.”
Box strength
Do you have a hefty item? Probably going to need a bigger box.
Many packaging shops have designed unique box types for various goods, depending on what you’re delivering (ie. bike parts or posters).
Boxes are available in a variety of styles, including single, double, and triple walled corrugated boxes.
Corrugated cardboard, as opposed to plain cardboard, is made up of three layers of paper: an interior liner, an exterior liner, and fluting with a ruffled form that runs between the two.
Our recommendation for box strength:
- Over 10kg (or ~20lb): double-lined corrugated box.
- Over 30kg (or ~60lb): triple-lined corrugated box.
- Over 40kg (or ~85lb): rigid wooden box or pallet.
- Artwork: rigid wooden box.
- Musical instruments: flight case or rigid wooden box.
Step 2: Packing supplies
It is important to know that your items may be handled several times and may be subjected to ambient conditions and transport movements.
As a result, how you package your items is crucial to putting your hard work into the hands of satisfied customers.
Outside packaging
Box made of corrugated cardboard
As previously said, the heavier your things, the stronger the box you require. A corrugated cardboard box is an excellent choice for keeping your items secure while in transportation.
To avoid boxes breaking open in transit, avoid reusing them or perform a thorough examination to ensure that they are still robust and stiff.
Single, double, and triple strength corrugated cardboard boxes are available, and we recommend utilizing double or triple strength boxes for heavier items.
Internal packaging
Consider this to be your body’s muscles, which encircle and protect your bones and organs.
Internal cushioning is essential for preventing movement within the box and protecting your valuables from damage and impact when traveling around the world.
Wrapping in bubble wrap (and alternatives)
Bubble wrap is a fantastic interior cushioning material for things in transportation, and if wrapped around your item multiple times, it will protect it from damage. However, bubble wrap is not good for the environment.
It’s often constructed of non-biodegradable plastic components that end up in landfills, strangling the ecosystem.
Instead of bubble wrap, consider using corn starch alternatives.
Fill the vacuum (with fill/peanuts)
Packing peanuts are a type of loose-fill packing material that is used to protect fragile items during a transfer or shipment operation.
They are designed to interlock when squeezed and to flow freely when not.
Most firms have traditionally utilized polystyrene ‘peanuts’ to fill the gap between lightweight products within a box. And if you can re-use these from previous deliveries, they’ll provide excellent cushioning for your departing items.
However, these small plastic nuggets are typically bad for the environment, so if your company grows, it’s worth looking for a source of biodegradable air peanuts or something else to secure your parcels.
Once you’ve discovered some you like, here’s how to include them into your package.
1.Wrap each item individually in bubble wrap or equivalent, then fill the box with at least 7cm (3 inches) with peanuts.
2.Place your objects in the center of the box, making sure they don’t contact one other or the box’s exterior borders.
3.Seal the box with sturdy packaging tape after filling it with packing peanuts.
- Foam
Polyethylene Foam is a long-lasting, lightweight closed-cell substance that is ideal for packing because it dampens vibrations.
If you carry a delicate vase and it spends hours in the back of a truck driving up the coast, the repeated vibrations of the vehicle may damage the porcelain or glass.
Wrapping your object with foam, making sure no component is exposed, and then sealing it with tape help to preserve it.
-
Crumpled Paper
Scrunched up paper or newspaper can be used as an alternative ‘filler’ for your package.
Alternatively, we shred or chop it up to assist cushion your items and keep them in place while in transportation.
Although paper is totally biodegradable and recyclable, one disadvantage of utilizing crumpled paper is that it can be untidy and costly at times.
Step 3: Package and wrap your things safely.
We don’t like to belabor the point, but the more delicate your things, the more care you must take while packing them for shipment.
Here are two strategies for securing those really fragile goods.
Suspending a purchase
Electronics and glass-containing products are at danger of being damaged if they come into contact with the edges of your box during shipment.
One solution is to suspend a delicate item within the box. This entails placing your merchandise between corner blocks or end caps.
Before suspending your object between corner blocks, we make sure it is carefully covered in bubble wrap or paper. Suspension by alone will not let your item to endure the bumps of a lengthy voyage, so we make sure to do everything we can to protect your products!
Double boxing
With this one, the clue is in the title! A smaller box within a bigger box is referred to as double boxing.
The outside box should be at least 15cm (6 inches) longer and broader than the inside box.
This is how it works in double boxing:
- 1.We place a 5cm (2 inch) layer of packing peanuts, or your preferred material, on the floor of the outer box.
- 2.We place inner box, which contains your goods, in the center, on top of the peanuts.
- We Fill the outer box completely, including the sides and top, with packing peanuts or crumpled paper, and close.
Double boxing is a great shock absorption technique, and can ensure handiwork makes it in one piece to its new home.
Packing multiple items into one box
Someone has splurged and gone shopping on your website. Brilliant! The worst-case scenario is that your products collide and shatter while in transit. So We insulate each individual goods, These precautions should assist to keep your Products safe:
- Wrap each item individually
We Make sure to wrap each item, whether it’s with bubble wrap, foam, or thick paper. Fill the inside as well if it’s hollow.
If you’re sending something electrical, We use an anti-static bag. Static energy may harm electronics, so we protect them by wrapping them and placing them in a bag.
-
Pack around the items with cushioning materials
Check for materials that will protect and cushion your belongings from vibration, impact, and shock.
This is a the sequence we follow while putting together a secure package:
- Place a layer of padding on the box’s floor.
- Place your individually wrapped products on top, then cover them in packaging peanuts, bubble wrap, or paper.
- Wedge material—whether foam or additional wrap—in between your objects to keep them from moving against one other.
- Check that your products are not touching the walls (or the top flaps). External knocks will be less severe as a result of this.
- Build a top layer of insulation.
- Your box should now be totally filled with cushioning materials, with no room for your products to move about. To put it to the test, we give it a little shake!
-
Sealing Your package
This is the cherry on top of your cake! The secure taping of your box is just as vital as the cushioning materials inside and the suitable box.
Firm, firm tape will greatly limit the possibility of your box being damaged or breaking open en route to its new home.
We avoid the use of sellotape, masking tape, or duct tape. These tapes are prone to ripping or easily detaching from the cardboard. Rather, invest on some strong wrapping tape.
This will keep your box’s form and adhere to it in all weather situations.
We tape your parcel at least three times around, in both directions.
If you have very delicate goods or a large number of pieces, we reinforce all seams and box joints. More is more when it comes to box packaging. As a result, we believe the more tape we use, the stronger your box will be.
